What's on Your iPod?

...or mp3 player? I need some suggestions for music to run to, music that's upbeat that really gets you motivated. Please, if you're a runner (or just exercise to music), and you have a good playlist, leave me some suggestions in the comments! Maybe there are others that could benefit from your suggestions too. Thanks!

I heard Dr Laura say once that when she is running and is at that point where you don’t think you can run further she plays the “Rocky” music for that extra boost to get her to the end.

Tami Jo has a good playlist that she used when she ran her marathon. I bet you could get a copy from her. Some of the songs were The Distance by Cake, Run Away from Oingo Boingo, Here it Goes Again by Ok Go, and a bunch of Queen songs. She made me a copy and it is my favorite thing to walk to. I have to keep myself from running!!

I like 80s music or any of the songs in my playlist on my blog. I didn't realize you were a runner.

I wouldn't say I was a runner, just getting some exercise.

Billy Joel, Jason Mraz, Ashlee Simpson, Ace of Base, Eva Cassidy, Evanessence, Feist, Kelly Clarkson. These are all artists with some nice beats and fun lyrics. I also used to like memorizing stuff while I was running. BTW, I am Jim's sister. I just clicked your link on your comment on connerposse. Thanks for letting me intrude.

I exercise in the am to the soundtrack from the musical Wicked, of course I'm a broadway junkie, but there are so fabulous songs on their that keep me so distracted that time flies by.

I have a few different play lists that I run to. They are dependent on my mood.

If I am in a happy mood I like:
Ace of Base "It's A Beautiful Life", "Life Is a Highway" Rascal Flatts, "Big as the Sky" AM60 or "Feel Good Inc." Gorrilaz,

Grouchy mood- I like listening to "Were Not Going to Take It" Twisted Sisters or "I Am Me" Ashlee Simpson or anything by Tantric (but, I think that might be too hard for most people's liking)

If I am just trying to get through the run, I like "Move Along" by All American Rejects, "Hips Don't Lie" Shakira or Sexy Back by Justin Timberlake

I hope this helps a bit. Glad that you are getting out there to run. I find it to be the best therapy EVER!

I always get laughed at because I love listening to Mariah Carey (i know, sounds scary), but it is slow so you can sort of sing along, but yet it usually has a nice strong beat to keep your speed up :) more often, i like harder songs like Muse "supermassive black hole" or dancy like Pink "get this party started" . Gwen Stefani, "sweet escape" is awesome, and you definitely can't go wrong with 80's like U2 or Justin Timberlake's "sexyback" is also great...
