Happy New Year

I’m ready to say good bye to 2010 and say hello to 2011!  I’m sure Miss K is too!  We found out today that she has shingles!  Poor girl.  Hopefully she will be able to get over it pretty quickly and move on to better times!

Things have been slow around here in the crafting/ sewing area and blogging lately.  I decided to look back at my 2010 pictures and make a mosaic of projects I’ve completed this year.  I was hoping it would motivate me, and I feel like it has!  I am happy to see that I did accomplish more than I realized this year.  I hope to get back in the swing of things in 2011.

Lots of fun memories here to look back on!

Happy New Year to you.  Hope it’s a great one for all of us.

Spring Break

We've been having too much fun this week for Spring Break.  Not a lot of sewing around here with the kids home.

But for Easter last weekend my parents were visiting and I had them each pick out fabric for an "Easter basket".  Here are the results:

And here are a couple pictures from our week off school:

We went to the beach, to the pool, shopping, attended a birthday party, played video games and hung out with friends.  And we worked at the Bishop's Storehouse (food bank) and got some homework done.

Miss K ran in the Junior Carlsbad.

And she went rock climbing with a friend.

AJ was gone all week.  He went on a trip with school to Washington DC, Pittsburgh and New York.  His favorite part was shopping in China Town...so he came back looking like this!  Nice!

In between all the fun activities we did some chilling out too.  Now it's back to work.  Only 8 weeks left of school before summer break.  We can't wait!

Mini QT Swap - In Person!!!

My latest swap partner just happens to live less than an hour away!  So we decided to get together and swap our mini quilts in person.

Here's my little package all ready to drive up to the mall to meet for lunch!  The theme for this month was Spring.  I used a Hunky Dory charm pack for the quilt and a little bit of the left overs in the fabric basket.

We met for lunch and had such a great time chatting and getting to know one another.  It was so much fun!  After lunch we opened the packages that we brought for each other.

She opened her's first, and this is what I gave to her.  (I snatched this picture from her since I never really got a good picture of the finished quilt!)

And I opened mine and Wow!  What beautiful stitching she did for me!

IMG_8534 IMG_8533  She included some other goodies too!  And as you can see she made me a needle case out of the same fabric I used for her quilt!  So fun!

I'm so glad we got matched up, now I have a new friend!4480553560_aee255c092_b  I just got my partner for April and she also lives in the area.  This is just too fun!

Birthday Surprises

This flat patchwork...IMG_8337

Miss K is also having a birthday soon, and her party is on Saturday.  The theme is Harry Potter, so stay tuned for lots of magical fun.

Shhh!  2 of her gifts came in the mail today:  a BYU t-shirt and a photo book from Shutterfly.  It turned out sooo cute!  I can't wait to give them to her!

Trisha's Gift

My sister Trisha's gift arrived yesterday, so she called me this morning.  She loved it, and I'm so glad.
I made one of Ayumill's fabric baskets for her and inside I tucked a matching sewing machine cozy/wall hanging mini quilt as well as a little photo album for pictures of her kids, and some gift certificates for knitting and quilting supplies.

IMG_8109It will go well in her home whether she decides to use it as a cozy for her sewing machine or just to hang it on her wall. (It's just a flat quilt with ribbons for ties.)

And here are a couple more baskets I've sewn up:
One for a friend, without the handles.  I love the fabric on this one!

And one for myself.  (love these fabrics too, of course!)

And one more project from 2009.  Miss K finally sewed up this little apron kit I got for her!  We both had our aprons on yesterday cleaning and organizing her room.  Yay!

Fabric and Chocolate...what could be better?

008 011We had our little quilt group party last night which included lots of yummy food, laughter, and a gift exchange.  You know the kind where you can steal each other's gifts.  Here's what I brought.  A fabric basket with some fat quarters and some See's candy.
Click on the link above for the pattern.  It's super easy and cute and was all the rage 6 months ago.  Everyone was making them.  I finally found a good excuse to try one.  Thanks Ayumills!
And here's what I came home with:

Everyone was so generous and now I have some fun new toys to play with!
